One contains cotton and an activated carbon filter that eradicates impurities, pesticides, herbicides, chlorine, and other particles.
The other cartridge has a reverse osmosis membrane that eradicates viruses, bacteria, heavy metals, and microplastics.
Are you wondering how the cartridges work?
The answer is that activated carbon has a high porosity and adsorption capacity and retains molecules or ions of unwanted substances on its surface.
While the cotton, being almost cellulose, retains the usual colloid solids in tap water.
These will remove chemical impurities and floating particles.
But, how does the process work?
First, the water goes through a cotton prefilter that eradicates big particles present in the water, including dust, sediments, and dirt.
Afterward, the water flows to the activated carbon prefilter. This moment is when the organic impurities in the water get eliminated.
The activated carbon filter retains big particles, so these do not go through the reverse osmosis membrane, which is in charge of continuing the purification process of your water.
The second cartridge of your ALX1 is reverse osmosis, which brings you pure and healthy water.
In this cartridge, the water flows through a semi-permeable membrane that requires pressure, which allows water molecules, but retains the sodium and organic material apart.
Additionally, reverse osmosis eliminates the microplastics in your water because its membrane has a pore of less than 1 micrometer, wiping out up to 99% of inorganic substances with an applied pressure of 4 to 8 bars.
Finally, the water goes to the activated carbon filter that removes any remaining harmful particles, improving the odor and flavor, and giving you pure and delicious water.
It’s worth mentioning that the flavor is because the pH of this delicious water is equal to 7.

Because the LED indicators of your ALX1 will be flashing red and you will know it is time for a new cartridge.
The lifespan of the reverse osmosis cartridge is 8 months, giving you up to 6,000 liters of pure water.
And the activated carbon and cotton cartridge has a lifespan of 4 months, reaching up to 3000 liters.

And lastly, we will let you know how to replace the cartridges in the following steps:
1. Close the T valve of the water feeder of your ALX1.
2. Push the Flush/Reset button to start a flushing process.
3. Disconnect the water purifier from the electrical power supply.
4. Remove the upper cover of the cartridge that will be replaced.
5. Twist the handle of the cartridge.
6. Take out the old cartridge and replace it with a new one.
7. Reopen the T valve of the water feeder.
8. Connect the water purifier to the electrical power supply.
